In 1983 Anne-Marie Verbeke-Billiet led a 'Masterclass Binche' study group at Kaantcentrum, in Bruce. They met every month and developed an original way to create new designs using the 'old' Binche techniques. This regularly led to the regular publication of a pattern folder much appreciated by lace lovers, comprising Syllabus Binche I, II and III, and three more patterns: "Dominos en gronden" ('Dominos and grounds'), a set of rectangular dominos tablets with grounds; "Hoop" ('Hope') and "Vivaldi" named after the composer of the "Quattro Stagioni", a mat in four quarters depicting a tree, with each quadrant illustrating a different season.
Written in three languages three languages (German, French and English), it does not claim to be either a theoretical or historical treatise, it is just a summary of a course conducted at the lacemaking school in Bruges.
