Korte omschrijving 📚

This work is devoted to Chateau Latour, one of the oldest and most prestigious vineyard estates in France. Its often tumultuous history dates as far back as the 14th century, and the chateau’s international renown to the 18th century when it became popular among the northern European aristocracy and discerning British amateurs. Here, the French specialist Michel Dovaz retraces the history of the chateau, its various owners and its wines, most importantly the “Grand Vin du Chateau Latour”, considered one of the very finest Premier Grand Cru clarets. The book leads us through every stage in the process of making an exceptional wine, from the exploitation of the territory, or “terroir”, to the individual hand-wrapping of every bottle of “Grand Vin”. Included are a technical description of the vineyard and of the methods used for producing the wines, and a detailed analysis of each of the chateau’s vintages this century, as well as a selection of 19th-century vintages.
